The new academic session has started two weeks ago and the students of the FDE run educational institutes are still looking for the delivery of complete textbooks to resume their studies with full concentration.
The students have received books of some subjects so far and the parents feared that their children will not be able to cover the syllabus in time without complete textbooks.
Shahina Ahmed, a mother of two children who are studying at Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) F-10/2 told APP that her children have only received books of four subjects so far.
It is responsibility of Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to deliver the textbooks to the students before commencement of their classes to save them from wastage of time, he said.
A student of Class three at Islamabad Model College for Boys (IMCB), G-10/4 said, “I have only received books of three subjects till now and teachers are saying that rest of the books will be provided in few days.”
“Our teachers keep us engage in the classroom in different activities during those periods of which we are not having the textbooks,” the student said.
Muhammad Salim, a father said, “My children studying in Islamabad Model College for Girls, G-10/2 have received only textbooks of few subjects while the teachers are saying that they have not received other books from the directorate.”
The classes were started in the month of April and the directorate promised to complete the process of distributing the books till the end of April but has not fulfilled, he said. He said it will be difficult for the children to prepare themselves for first term exams.
Talking to APP, Director Model Colleges Tariq Masood said that National Book Foundation (NBF) is the book publishing authority and it has delivered textbooks to the directorate but there were some objections of Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on the published books.
The directorate will held a meeting with the officials of FBISE and resolve the matter.
The process of dispatching the textbooks to all the model schools and colleges continues and hopefully the remaining textbooks will be handed over to the students as early as possible, he said.
The FDE provides free books from class I to class X, every year, to facilitate the students.
