1556 workers of the Municipal Services Department along with other officials concerned have been deployed to clean one Union Council (UC) in each constituency of Rawalpindi city daily.
Four UCs with several other areas of the city are being cleaned everyday in a bid to make it a model city through a week-long cleanliness campaign launched on April 26. More than 25 vehicles have also been engaged to lift the garbage and waste from different areas.
The cleanliness drive was started in the city on the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and National Assembly opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. The task is being completed under the direct supervision of Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Imdad Ullah Bosal, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Saqib Zafar, national assembly and provincial assembly members of the respective areas while the work is continuing in full swing. The staff carried out cleanliness work on Monday in various areas of the city, including Union Council No 13, New Katarian, UC 43, Dhoke Khaba, UC 41, Saidpuri Gate and UC 2, Dhoke Ratta.
