Feminist organisations, civil society and political circle have raised voice against the incompetence of women’s information cells setup all police station across the city.
The women information cells have been setup on the direction of the I.G Punjab but they lost their importance just after three months of their creation.
The information cells were created in all the important police station of Rawalpindi aiming at to resolve all the issues concerning to women. A source inside the police department told Online News, that at least three months these information cells worked properly but with the passage of time they had lost their importance resultantly several information cell, including the information cell in civil line police station were closed down.
And the staff of the cell has been sent back to their parent department, he added. According to civil line police station version, women felt uncomfortable to discuss their problems with the lady officer in the presence of male staff of civil line police station as the lady staff were sitting in Moharar’s room. The information cell was shifted to civil line women police station, adjacent to civil line police station, source added.
