The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC)-I awarded life imprisonment to two militants of the banned organisation Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in a case of kidnapping for ransom.
According to the prosecution, Qari Amin al Haq and Fazal Rahim had kidnapped Muhammadi Gul, a local businessman, from the Sohrab Goth area.
Police arrested the accused men with the assistance of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee and recovered the abducted man, after which a case was registered against the Taliban who had demanded Rs 2 million as ransom.
After hearing the final arguments, ATC-I Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso awarded life imprisonment to Haq and Rahim.
PIA: The same court remanded into police custody on Saturday Javed Ansari, the alleged accused who threatened to hijack a domestic Pakistan International Airline (PIA) flight on April 27, until May 4.
The suspect, a passenger in the Bahawalpur-bound flight, was arrested by the police on the complaint of Airport Authorities that he had threatened to hijack the plane during the flight.
The flight had returned to the Karachi airport soon after take-off, when the alleged accused reportedly misbehaved with an airhostess and threatened to hijack the plane of the national airline.
The Airport police registered a case under Section 402B of the Criminal Procedure Code and Section 7E of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
BHOJA AIR: The management of Bhoja Air filed a constitutional petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) against the registration of the First Information Report (FIR) of the airline’s plane crash.
In the petition, the management submitted that the registration of the case against Bhoja Air was against the basic human rights and illegal as well.
The petitioners added that in the past, many airplanes had crashed, but no such case was registered against any airline.
