Medical universities agree on issuing same admission forms

The fifth meeting of the Pakistan National Board of Medical Universities was held on Saturday at the King Edward Medical University (KEMU). The meeting was attended by vice-chancellors and heads of various medical institutions from across the country. The meeting decided that all the universities will offer uniform application forms for the MD/MS programmes and will accept forms online. All universities will hold uniform admission examination for the MD/MS postgraduate programmes, twice a year throughout Pakistan.
The universities will also establish a National Board of Specialties for running the postgraduate programmes. These programmes will have uniform curriculum, structured training, examinations and quality assurance. The next meeting of the board, organised by Quid-e-Azam University, NUST, Bahria, TM University and the Foundation University will be held in Islamabad on 9th June 2012. Those who attended the meeting include Peoples Medical University VC Prof Azam Hussain Yousafani, Dow Medical University VC Prof Masood Hameed, acting VC KEMU Prof Asad Aslam Khan, Academic Foundation University Medical College Director Prof Brig Saadat Ali Khan, Shifa College of Medicine Principal Prof Maj Gen (r) M Aslam, Isra University Assistant Professors Dr Navaid Kazi and Dr Saif-ur-Rehman.
