Adnan Sami has taken off to the UK on the first leg of a world tour that will also see him travelling to the US, Canada, Africa, Scandinavia, Far East and the Middle East over the next four months. His first concert was at London’s famous Wembley stadium. “I will be back in India by the end of the month. I’ll take a break, then fly off to another country. Going around the world at a stretch will be tiring and tedious which is why I thought of taking a break for a couple of weeks in between,” says the singer-composer. Meanwhile, Adnan has been working on an album for Yash Raj Films Music that should be out by the end of next month. Titled ‘Press Play’, the singer says that each of the nine songs belong to a different genre, which is why he didn’t want to label his album after any one track or have it pegged as a romantic, Sufi or pop compilation. “I have sung a Sufi song; it’s extremely trippy. I’ve always loved that music but this is the first time I’ve tackled the genre. It’s one of my favourite tracks,” says Adnan, who has also attempted another first with this album, a Punjabi number. “I have lots of Punjabi friends and I speak the language with them. They always ask me when I would sing in Punjabi. I finally have and it’s a pretty outrageous song, with an up-beat tempo,” he adds. The 38-year-old is also gearing up for his acting career, having zeroed in on two scripts. “The Bollywood film is likely to roll post summer,” he says, adding that it will have elements of romance and comedy. “It’s not slapstick, but situational comedy. And no, I won’t produce it, I’m just the actor.”
