Army no more interested in power games: Shujaat

PML-Q President Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that the Army is no more interested in grabbing the power from democratic government.
Replying to questions during his media interaction on Sunday, he said that despite a stay order, he recognized Shahbaz Sharif as the Punjab Chief Minister.
He said, “If the rulers of Punjab claim to implement the orders of the judiciary then they should hold local bodies at the earliest in the province which would expose their popularity and know where PML (N) stands in the eyes of the people.”
In reply to another question, Ch Shujat Hussain said that those demanding resignation of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani should wait for detailed judgment of the Supreme Court, adding that it had not been written in the apex court’s order anywhere that the Prime Minister stood disqualified.
He said those talking about long march should know that their long march would prove short march and they could not even cross the Ravi bridge.
Chaudhry Shujaat said those demanding early general election should know that the election would be held on time while for the time being, they should make preparations for the local polls.
“The Punjab may feed our chicks to any extent but they would return to their real party,” he said.
