Gilgit curfew to be lifted tonight: Rehman Malik

Interior Minister Rehman Malik has announced the lifting of curfew and restoration of mobile service in Gilgit from tonight.
Talking to newsmen in Islamabad on Saturday‚ he said several persons were arrested following the acts of violence in Gilgit but those found innocent will be released soon.
Rehman Malik said that strength of police force in Gilgit will be increased from five thousand to ten thousand while Frontier Corps and Rangers have also been directed to assist the Gilgit Baltistan government in maintenance of law and order.
He said an office of FIA will also be set up in Gilgit as part of efforts to improve the situation there.
Malik said that religious scholars are also being taken on board for promotion of religious harmony in the area.
