Islamabad police have made foolproof security arrangements for three-day religious congregation starting here at Sector I-11/1 on Saturday (today) and deputed over 1,000 personnel for the security of the participants.
Rangers will also assist the Islamabad police in security duties and the checking of all the people through metal detectors and walk-through gates will be done in this regard. Three entry points have been made and a separate place has been allocated for car parking, a police spokesman said.
The police will perform duty in various shifts, armored personnel carrier vehicles to remain present at the site and police teams will also monitor the activities of suspicious people and beggars. The police will also patrol the area around the congregation.
SSP Yousuf Malik has directed all the sub-divisional police officials and SHOs to make the checking process effective. A control room has been also established for coordination among the deployed staff through wireless system.
Three SPs, as many DSPs and six inspectors will ensure coordination of all security arrangements and issue directions for necessary security steps on the congregation premises.
Policemen will ensure that all participants enter the congregation venue after proper checking of their luggage and manual checking with metal detectors. Bomb disposal squads have been deputed for technical sweeping at the venue while one bomb disposal squad will remain present at the venue round the clock.
The SSP (traffic) has coordinated with the organisers and separate parking areas have been specified for vehicles. Special deployment will be made to avoid traffic jam from Pirwadhai Morre to Railway Gate on IJ Principal Road, Sir Syed Rod and Police Lines Road. The Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) secretary will coordinate with the SSP (traffic) for smooth flow of traffic, especially at the end of the congregation.
Fire brigade vehicles and ambulances will remain standby for help in case of any emergency. The organisers will aslo assist police in performing security duties and provide lists of volunteer security workers to ensure effective arrangements on the occasion.
