The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) activists held protest demonstrations in different cities of the country in support of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani over the Supreme Court verdict in contempt of court case. Hundreds of PPP workers including women and members of students organisations of the party, in Multan, Rahimyar Khan, Kandhkot, Sukkur, Thatta, Gharo, Tando Muhammad Khan, Jaccobabad, Jamshoro, Nowsheroferoz and other cities of the three provinces staged pro-Gilani protests following the SC ruling against him. The protesters burnt tyres and blocked the main road near the High Court chowk in Multan. They stopped the Shalimar Express.
Protests were also staged in interior Sindh. The protestors chanted slogans in favour of Gilani and the PPP leadership. They were of the view that the PPP had always been victimised through courts.
Unknown armed men in Badin, Thatta, Nawabsah, Sukkur and some other parts of Sindh resorted to aerial firing, forcing the traders to shut their business.
