The Defective Drugs Enquiry Tribunal, comprising Lahore High Court Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, issued notices on Thursday to Punjab Health Director General Nasir Ali Cheema. Notices were also issued to Efroze Chemicals Limited Human Resource Manager and Security Incharge Muhammad Razwan and officials Syed Razi Haider Kazmi, Muhammad Shoaib Ansari to appear before the tribunal on (Friday) at 10 am. During proceedings on Thursday, Efroze Chemicals Limited Supply Chain Executive Syed Waqas Hussain and Store Officer Syed Iftikhar Ahmad appeared before the tribunal. Their statements were recorded and they answered questions raised by the tribunal. The tribunal is probing the matter to ascertain the causes of deaths of the patients who were administered contaminated drugs and to determine if the causes relate to the use of certain drugs. The tribunal also aims to fix responsibility and to make recommendations to prevent such incidents in the future.
