Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company CEO and Livestock Secretary Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh said on Thursday that facilitating livestock farmers is a priority for the government.
He was talking to veterinary doctors at the NRSP office, during the second training session arranged by PAMCO under the Save the Calf and Lot Fattening programmes.
He said the government is training veterinary doctors to perform in a better way and to make the livestock sector more profitable.
Yaqoob stated that prosperous livestock farmers were assurance of a prosperous Pakistan and that the present government had offered incentives to livestock farmers to boost the sector.
Punjab has the capacity to export meat and its by-products along with meeting local demand, he added.
The two-day training was attended by livestock officers from across Punjab.
It was aimed at introducing current trends in animal sciences and to train the officers about the proper care-giving techniques for animals.
