Non-supply of water to the residents of Haji camp, I-14 Sector, has multiplied their miseries.
Water supply continued for 10 years and it was disconnected three years back for the reasons best known to the CDA, said the residents. “The CDA’s main water pipeline passes through this area. But we stand deprived of the basic facility of water,” said Gulzar Ahmad, a shopkeeper. We are low-paid government employees and we have to bring water for domestic use and drinking purpose from far-off areas. We have to pay heavy taxi fares for fetching the water, said the residents. The lack of clean drinking water has spread epidemics, particularly abdominal diseases, in the area, said Ghulam Rasool, a teacher. The residents demanded early steps for supplying water to the area otherwise they will be forced to hold protest demonstrations.
