Punjab Education Minister Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman has directed the Punjab Textbook Board (PTB) authorities to ensure the availability of all the syllabus books from class 1 to 10 in the market.
He further directed to take strict action against those publishers who have failed to supply the relevant books in time and have shown negligence for supplying the books.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of PTB authorities regarding shortage of syllabus books in the market. The meeting was attended by PTB Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Noul, Khalifa Majeed and officials of PTB and Education Department.
The minister said old system of book publishing by PTB would be restored in place of the present system so that to ensure the availability of syllabus books timely and comparatively at lesser prices.
The minister was briefed that all syllabus books from class 1 to 10 were available in the market and the PTB had established its own book stall at 22-Urdu Bazaar near Bank Al-Habib.
The PTB authorities have ensured the availability of books from retailers throughout the province, however, if any complaint was made it would be redressed immediately.
