Terrorists killed in encounter identified as Lashkar-e-Jhangvi spokesman, activist

One of the two terrorists killed in a police encounter in the Western Bypass area of Quetta on Monday, was identified as Hafiz Wazir alias Ali Sher Haidri. Wazir was the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi spokesman, which had claimed the responsibility for killing hundreds of Shia Muslims in Quetta. The Lashkar-e- Jhangvi also admitted that its spokesman had been killed.
According to the police, Wazir was the son of Dost Muhammad and was a resident of Machh in the Bolan District some 60 Km away from Quetta. The police also seized cell phones which had the numbers of media organisations and journalists whom Wazir used to call to claim the responsibility for killing the Shias. The other terrorist was identified as Hafiz Naseer Raisani, son of Nasrullah. A resident of Dalbandin, Hafiz Naseer was on the CID police’s most wanted list. Hafiz Naseer was identified by his uncle, while two brothers, who are constables in the police, identified the dead body of Wazir. DIG Operations Qazi Abdul Wahid confirmed the identity of both the terrorists, saying a reward had been offered for information about Hafiz Naseer. The police was carrying out DNA tests on both the bodies to establish their identities and samples had already been dispatched to Islamabad for this purpose. Anti-Terrorism Force commandoes had killed the two terrorists in an encounter on Monday, after they opened fire on police personnel. A police commando was also injured in the crossfire. The police found six pistols that included two 9 mm pistols normally used by the terrorists in target killing, Russian-made hand grenades, six fake vehicle registration number plates and ammunition.
