Pakistan on Wednesday successfully launched an upgraded ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead just a few days after India conducted its own missile test of a nuclear-capable, long-range missile, Agni-V. The Hatf IV Shaheen-1A missile was launched into the sea, said an ISPR statement issued here after the missile test. The missile was described as an intermediate-range missile having a longer range than its predecessor, Shaheen-1, which is believed to fly up to 465 miles.
“The improved version of Shaheen-1A will further consolidate and strengthen Pakistan’s deterrence abilities,” said Lt General (r) Khalid Ahmed Kidwai, who witnessed the launch of the missile. India had announced last Thursday that it had successfully test-launched a new nuclear-capable, long-range missile, the Agni-V, which has the range of 3,100 miles. The new missile test by Islamabad was described by western media as a response on part of Islamabad to New Delhi’s Agni-V test. However, a security official here belied those reports saying that was not the case as the latest test was planned days ago and more over both Islamabad and New Delhi notified each prior to such tests in accordance with an agreement of advance notification of ballistic missile tests. The ISPR statement said, “Pakistan today successfully conducted the launch of the intermediate Range Ballistic Missile Hatf IV Shaheen-1A Weapon System. The missile is an improved version of Shaheen-1 with improvements in range and technical parameters. It is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads.”

  1. Can not be rejected outright as a show of deterrence which would be understandable but the real strength lies in improving facilities like health, education and security for the people of Pakistan, a country which is at risk from the enemy within.

  2. If the test was scheduled earlier to the test of Agni-V then its alrite, if it is done in response to Agni-V then it s a pathetic attempt to make an impression on the people of Pakistan.

  3. The older I grow, the more I realize that our own military is one of the principal enemies of our country.

    • That's what the enemies want you to believe. There are certainly bad sheeps in military too, but you just can't outright turn against them

  4. Lots of congratulations on the successful test-fire of nuclear-capable ballistic missile on wednesday. We wish and appreciate our armed forces and to the government and people of Pakistan.Keep this spirit up and be alert at all the time.the whole nation is with you and solute to you.Pakistan Zindabad.Pakistan Army Paindabad

    • the nation will "solute" the army?? i bet that would have taken care of all of our problem.

  5. Pakistan is Superb

We are great in all aspects and last day of the world we will be great.
    God bless our home(Pakistan) Ameen.
Congrets to all Pakistani for great Achivement.

    Regards.

  6. Congratulations!
Defense is essential indeed and we are spending a big sum to strengthen it. But another crucial and basic need is to develop the life style of each individual Pakistani.
Um Happy that investments in defense issues producing successful results as Pakistan tests nuclear and now capable ballistic missile too; means its working.
But the budgets allocate to education, health, railway, and other ministries generate almost “0” results. In which hell they are focusing on? Inept ministers addicted to their own interests they are not Loyal to PAK’s concerns. I must say for them “Mulla Ki Dhorr Masjid Tk”.

    GOD Bless you Army!

    • Because here, there is an imbalance between security and welfare of the state….from the day first we focused on only one institution at the cost of all others….A true competition should be in all fields of life so that the benefits should reached down to the common citizens…when we will start thinking out of the security box..

  7. Well done, about time we use this techonology to make it commercial use as well, so it can bring back money went for these developments. Use it to launch sattelites into space, very few countries has this capability and very lucrative business to get into. Pakistan should enhance and develop its rocket launching facilities.

    • If you don't possess the capability of ICBM then forget about launching satellites into space orbit.

  8. This cant be seen as answer to India as their missile range was 8000 km while pakistan’s missile range is 700 km only…..

      • 5000 km is just a downplayed number not to alarm the other countries, its actually 8000 km and much more with some modifications-listen to your smart buddies the chinese. The earlier missile Agni-IV is already capable of upto 6000 miles!!!

  9. No peace, no law and order, no electricity, no job but still we are comparing ourselves with India, Thank you for saving us from India and kill us by hunger and terrorism

    • Best response??? firing an already tested missile just to make an impression on its citizens is a great response for testing an ICBM!!! you people are soo gullible

  10. What a shame that we are explicitly running our defence policy just on the knee-jerk reactions of Indo-phobia! First India test fired her missile and now this exhibition of so called minimal detterence is on the follow up. Pity!

  11. It was so successful in launching a missile but could not land an aircraft.that's technology!

  12. Army should name it bhoja in memory of those who killed in crash……. I felt proud for a moment for missile launch but then felt very bad after thinking of Bhoja crash…….

  13. This missile cannot even cross half of India, its just 700 km missile…..even it cannot cross a single province of India out of 29 provinces……..its a bit cheating…….we should atleast have launched an ICBM

    • You wish you have an ICBM that can reach Israel atleast if not America. Too bad the chinese only give you outdated tuss phatakas and not the ICBM!!! Thats the reason you didnt lauch one!!!

  14. After India tested Agni 5 giving a matching reply to it had just become due. The successful test is a proof our capability to maintain deterrence against perceived threat from India. Since this missile can hit entire India and beyond its surely has range of more than 5000 miles.

    SHAHID HUSSEIN QABOOLPURIA,
    LAHORE, PAKISTAN

    • MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Sure India is atleast 5000 kilometres wide!!!! It ranges from west of China all the way to Atlantic Ocean!!

  15. Great all we need is more unstable countries with missles capable of carrying a nuclear payload

  16. The official range declared by India is 5000 km but its actual range is 8000 km(as per ISI, and China). India declared its range less than actual because it might create furor among NATO countries……..

  17. Now start generating electricity , build schools ,get rid of land lords , mullahs and currupt politicians.

  18. Congratulations!
Excellent job done. Now its time to work on electricity production in order grow economy of the country.
