The Pakistan Hockey Federation on Tuesday picked the national junior team for participation in the 7th Men’s Junior Asia Cup.
The trials to select final lineup of junior hockey team were held at Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium Karachi on April 24. The National Selection Committee observed the trials and after approval of President PHF announced 18 players for the event.
PLAYERS: Mazhar Abbas, Syed Kashif Shah (Vice-Capt), Muhammad Khalid, Aleem Bilal, Muhammad Rizwan, Muhammad Tousiq, Tasawwar Abbas, Kashif Javed, Zohaib Ashraf, Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Umar Bhutta (Capt), Muhammad Dilber, Ali Shan, Muhammad Suleman, Muhammad Umair, Hafiz Umer Sardar, Muhammad Jaffar and Hafiz Rizwan Ali.
OFFICIALS: Rana Mujahid Ali (Manager/Head Coach), Danish Kaleem, Anjum Saeed & Ahmed Alam (Coaches), Asad Abbas Shah (Team Doctor) & Syed Abu Zar Umrao (Video-Analyst).
The team will leave for IPOH on 26th April 2012. Revised Match Schedule is attached.
The Pakistan team which will play China in its opening match on May 4 will lock horns against India on May 6 in the 7th Men’s Junior Asia Cup to be played in Malacca, Malaysia from May 3 to 13.
With the approval of International Hockey Federation (FIH), the Asian Hockey Federation has released match schedule and Pakistan has been placed in pool B along with India, China and Sri Lanka while Pool A have Korea, Malaysia, Iran and Japan.
Pakistan will open its campaign against China on May 4 while on the opening day (May 3) Korea will play Japan and Malaysia will take on Iran. Pakistan will be playing ist second match against India and looking at the pools, the junior greens have a positive chance to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
