The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated a probe against a former Education secretary, three district officers and 14 other officials of the Sindh Education Department for alleged corruption worth millions of rupees.
The NAB has directed the provincial education department to provide the details of the corruption matters, which have been pending for the past many years due to political backing of the officers involved.
According to a letter available with Pakistan Today, NAB Staff Director has directed the Education secretary to immediate provide all the details of cases pending against former Education secretary Sabhago Khan Jatoi, assistant director Nazish and a close associate of former secretary Jatoi, police inspector Anwar Abro, among 15 other education officers up till April 30.
According to reliable sources in NAB-Sindh, the bureau has hard evidences against the former secretary and his associates including Polytechnic College Matiyari Principal Akram Samo, Matiari District Education Officer Yar Muhammad Khaskhili, District Education Officer Asghar Abro, tender clerk Irshad Memon, Jacobabad District Education Officer Ibrahim Buriro, Headmistress of Government Girls Secondary School University Campus Karachi University, Government Girls School Chanesar Goth Assistant Shabir Ahmed, additional former executive officer education Shah Faisal Town Shaukat Ali, Surjani school teacher Shama Rizvi and clerk Munir Jamali.
The NAB has asked the parent department to present the posting and services record of all the alleged accused and other corruption matters if any.
Sources in Sindh Education Department said that if any conclusive investigations are launched against the education department officers, many other matters of corruption will also be unearthed.
