The Supreme Court on Monday directed Lady Health Workers (LHWs), who are protesting against the delay and no increase in their salaries, to abandon strikes and resume their work to serve the humanity.
A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq Parvez also issued notices to the federal as well as provincial governments to furnish till May 10 their reports about the steps taken to resolve the LHWs problems.
The bench was hearing a contempt of court petition filed by Bushra Aarian, central chairperson of Lady Health Workers. In their main plea, the Lady Health Workers also contended that payment of their salaries was being delayed, their salaries were not being increased and their services were not being regularized.
