Zardari orders indiscriminate action against criminals

President Asif Ali Zardari has said that if the three political parties, the PPP, MQM and the ANP, join hands in Karachi, there was no reason why they could not confront and defeat the menace of lawlessness and the targeted killings in the metropolis.
He also directed for setting up a committee comprising of representatives of PPP, ANP and MQM to have constant liaison with Home Minister Sindh and the Chief Minister Sindh to remove any misgiving about the operation against the law breakers, extortionists and the target killers in the metropolis.
He said this while chairing a meeting of the allied parties that was held in Bilawal House Karachi on Monday.
The President said he has knowledge of every single minute happenings in Lyari, a stronghold of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). He said that criminals in the metropolis should be identified and indiscriminate action should be taken against them.
Those who were present during the meeting included Sindh Governor Dr. Isharat-ul-Ibad Khan, Sindh CM Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Dr. Farooq Sattar, Mr. Babar Ghouri, Mr. Raza Haroon, Mr. Adil Siddiqui, Mr. Waseem Aftab, Mr. Saghir Ahmed, Senator Shahi Syed, Mr. Ajab Khan, Mr. Sultan Mandokhel, Rana Gul Afridi, Advocate Murad Altaf and Mr. Riaz Gul.
Interior Minister Senator Rehman Malik, Sindh Home Minister Mr. Manzoor Wasan, Agha Siraj Durrani, Mr. Murad Ali Shah, Mr. Ayaz Soomro, Mr. Rafiq Engineer and Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar were also present.
Briefing about the meeting Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the meeting reviewed law and order situation in Karachi and the various steps taken so far to restore order in the city.
Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Home Minister Sindh Manzoor Wasan and the Interior Minister Senator A. Rehman Malik briefed the meeting about the law and order situation in the city.
The President emphasized that it was the shared responsibility of all the political parties to help restoring complete order in the metropolitan city and to bring culprits to books.
The President directed that all steps be taken to protect lives and property of the citizen and strict action be taken against violators of law and order regardless of any consideration.
Talking to media after the meeting , ANP Sindh President Shahi Syed said the meeting discussed exclusively Karachi’s situation. He said peace cannot be established in the city until fresh constituencies are made on the basis of new census.
