IUCPSS-TDCP agree on promoting tourism, hotel management

The eight members’ Inter University Consortium for the Promotion of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities (IUCPSS) and Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP) have agreed to undertake collaborative programs for preservation and promotion of local culture and tourism.
It has also been agreed that both the organizations would cooperate each other through establishing joint linkages with other international and national organizations, organizing joint seminars/conferences, workshops and launching academic programs in the area of hotel management, tourism and hospitality, said a press release here on Sunday.
Both the organizations would also avail each other’s facilities and expertise. Murtaza Noor would act as focal person from IUCPSS for facilitation in this process. In this regard, a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony would be held on April 30, which would be attended by parliamentarians, vice chancellors, eminent academicians, government officials and representatives of civil society organizations.
IUCPSS is country’s first ever inter-university consortium formed by eight renowned higher educational institutions of Pakistan including Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, University of Gujrat, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, Government College University Faisalabad, University of Balochistan Quetta, Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar, Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan and the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.
One of main function of the consortium includes establishing linkages with national and international organizations. The consortium is also working for preservation of local culture/history and promotion of tourism at national and international level.
Timely completion of flyover side roads directed : Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Amad ullah Bosal has issued special directives to the Highways Department for completion of side roads of the Chandni Chowk flyover till May 10. He said deadline would not be extended and no delay in this connection would be tolerated, adding that signals should also be installed at the side roads so that the traffic mess could be avoided. He also directed City Traffic Police authorities to deploy extra traffic wardens to regulate traffic in Chandni Chowk area until the signals are not installed on the side roads. Amdad ullah Bosal has also directed WASA authorities to lay down new water pipes especially where there is water leakage so that the newly constructed roads could be protected.
