Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday said the Siachen front was costing both India and Pakistan’s a lot of resources and should be demilitarized, but opposed a unilateral troop pullout by Pakistan.
Talking to reporters at Lahore airport on his return from Quetta, the PTI chief called for the demilitarization of Siachen.
Commenting on the tragic air crash near Islamabad that led to the deaths of all 127 on board, Khan urged an impartial and free investigation into the incident. Criticising the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government, he said anyone could do anything with the help of bribery.
Imran said the prime minister was “willing to go down as a political martyr to conceal corruption”.
He said the only solution to Balochistan’s problem was political.
Khan also urged President Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif to hold public gatherings in Quetta.
He called his party’s public gathering in Quetta a “record rally”, claiming that they had managed to hoist the Pakistani flag where no other party had managed to do so.
Khan said there would be a PTI tsunami on one side and vested interests on the other in the next elelction.
He said those calling the PTI tsunami handiwork should see their Quetta meeting, adding that a general could create the PML-N and IJI, but could bring a tsunami.
Khan said the government had not implemented the Supreme Court’s verdict in rental power case, adding that the person who was declared an accused had been appointed as federal minister.

  1. who cares you mr puppet khan? You have no mandate for this. Please speak less and clean your group from lotas and rejected mafia.

  2. No one wanted to understand what NS has said. First I would like to quote the report of PT on 17th April: "Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday called on the governments of Pakistan and India to withdraw their forces from Siachen, saying the first step should be taken by Pakistan". As I understand everyone (including all leaders of India) is supporter of "withdrawal", the only hurdle is who will do first and NS is of the view that Pakistan should lead for peace of the reign. Did he ever said that Pakistan should leave the region without guaranteeing that India will leave simultaneously also. In bashing NS they ignore basic facts. Sad IK I believe you were a wise man, and was against the wars. But, sadly you succumb to popular politics.

  3. In the year 1984, India covertly sent its troops to the icy heights of Siachen glacier under the code name of “Operation Maghoot”. When Pakistan received the repots of this Indian aggression, it was left with no other option but to follow the suit so any further advancements of Indian troops might be crippled, thus the conflict on the roof of the world started. Till then, this pointless war has claimed about 3000 Pakistani and near 5000 Indian troops. Surprisingly, on both sides, the climatic hazards like avalanches, crevasses, frostily and glaciers’ sliding etc. have claimed more lives than by active armed confrontations. Presently, there are nearly 10,000 and 20,000 Indian and Pakistani troops stationed in the Siachen glacier.
It is of no doubt that sector Siachen is of minute strategic significance as said by the person who actually planned the siachen operation Lt. General M.L. Chibber (r) who asserted in an interview as: “Siachen does not have any strategic significance”. The question arises if this occupation is so insignificant then why India is spending 5o million per day to maintain its troops on Siachen? It is only a tactic which India has been applying to keep on blowing severe dent to Pakistan’s fragile economy and to keep a great bulk Pakistan’s of forces engaged at this sector which are gnawing 15 million per day.

khan is right … we cannot pull out troop unilaterally
