It’s a subject that’s often talked about in hushed tones, but director Shoojit Sircar decided to go hammer and tongs with this very subject. What was he thinking when he thought of making ‘Vicky Donor’? He laughs and says, “I just knew one thing – that this film had to be made. I knew that John Abraham had turned producer and was looking to produce some different kind of films. So I just went to him with my script and that was enough to convince him to back the film. In fact, I really want to thank John for backing me and the script, because without him the kind of reach this film has got was unimaginable.” Speaking about stardom and sensitive topics, Shoojit says, “Often you need the big stars to speak on sensitive subjects. It lends a certain credence to the subject and of course helps the film reach a wider audience. ‘Vicky Donor’ is a super example of this and John’s made this possible. He deserves a big thank you.”
