Federal Minister for Information Technology Raja Pervez Ashraf on Thursday said rental power projects (RPP) were the only solution to get rid of electricity crisis.“There is no other short cut to ending the electricity crisis but to rely on RPPs; around 140 countries are using RPPs,” he said while talking to the reporters out side the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) headquarters.
The federal minister made it clear that the RRPs were started during Musharraf’s era in 2006, not during the tenure of Pakistan People’s Party.
The minister claimed he himself had wanted that the apex court to investigate the matter and that he would fully cooperate with NAB during the course of investigation.
“I will prove myself innocent before the investigation officer,” he added. He said he had requested the prime minister and the federal cabinet to conduct third party audit of the RPPs from Asian Development Bank (ABD). After some objections were raised by the ADB, the federal cabinet had addressed all those objections, Ashraf said. The minister asserted his party respected the courts. The prime minister appeared before the apex court to defend his case and conveyed a strong message to his political opponents that he had respect for the judiciary, he said. Ashraf said same objections were raised when Benazir Bhutto had brought independent power producers (IPPs) to the country to add electricity to the national grid.

  1. Never. Pakistan will remain in shambles until the world ends. There will never be hope, no improvement, and no relief.. gg

  2. They all seems to be looters and want to enhance their margin by calling RPP the only solution. Pakistan have ALHAMDULILLAH most of things present but we just need to kickoff these corrupt people and politicians. Where two major clear looters and corrupt people are Zardari and Yousaf Raza (a convicted criminal) where we also know that the case in which his son was involve was none other than drug.
So it is because of our shameless public who will again give vote to such criminals and because of our shameless army who can't see or do any thing.
