Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir prime minister and senior PPP leader Barrister Sultan Mehmood called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at the PM’s House on Wednesday and thanked him for taking a personal interest in the socio-economic development of AJK. He appreciated the prime minister’s announcement about constructing an international airport, a medical college, a new IT university campus in Mirpur, a dual carriageway between Lower Topa and Kohala and the Mehran Shah Bridge.
Prime Minister Gilani said Pakistanis were passionate about ensuring the wellbeing and welfare of the Kashmiris and that his interest in the development of AJK was a reflection of the same sentiments. The prime minister said the democratic government will continue to extend moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiri people to seek a resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiris. Prime Minister Gilani referred to his meetings with the Indian prime minister in which both the leaders agreed to settle all the outstanding issues between the two countries including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir through negotiations and dialogue.
