Non-provision of post office facilities has multiplied miseries of residents of Talhar.
“Our village is located at a distance of 13 kilometers from the capital, and its population runs into over 20,000, but it lacks the vital facility of a post office,” said Gulzar Ahmad, a resident. “Often our important documents are misplaced while traveling to Islamabad and if the post office facility is provided, we can mail them easily, said Shahbaz Ahmad, a resident.
This facility is available in the village of Kokina Kalan and our elderly women and men have to proceed to that area on foot to collect stipend under Benazir Income Support Programme, said Ali Ahmad, a chowkidar. “We cannot receive our assignments in time and often they are misplaced,” said a group of Allama Iqbal Open University students.
