Murtaza Razvi, a senior journalist and assistant editor (head of magazines), of the daily Dawn, Pakistan’s leading English language newspaper, was found murdered in the city early Thursday morning. Police said his body was found from an office flat in the Defence area of the metropolis. His hands were tied and there were torture marks on his body, indicating that he had apparently been strangled to death. However, the police said the real cause of death will be established after the post-mortem report was released.
The deceased’s family said he did not have any personal enmities and requested the media not to speculate about the cause of his death until the police apprehend his killer(s). Murtaza Razvi was regarded as one of the most highly qualified journalists of the country, with over two decades of experience under his belt. He had worked in a number of well-known publications. Razvi had held the post of Dawn’s resident editor in Lahore before moving to Karachi to take over as Dawn’s magazines’ editor. He is survived by his widow and three daughters.

  1. This is extremely sad and is highlu alarming for the media community of Pakistan. But our President and PM are just deeply entangled in the cases of mega corruption to the tunes of many billions embezzlement dollar wise and all reporters TV anchors exposing these are under constant threat, mainly conveyed over cell numbers.Amnesty Internation should lodge strong protest with Islamabad and demand for early arrest of the killers although the trach record of Gilani is extremely poor and bad.

  2. Another Shia Killing . They have to arrest ,people like Hafiz Saeed and ban extremist organizations headed by him or other extremist individuals.

  3. This is what they want. Sunni killing, Shia killing, just fight with one another and they will continue their illicit games. The one who died is human being, is Pakistani is Muslim, ONe who killed is our enemy. So get united against all criminals.. don't get into the debate of Shia Sunni, Muhajir, Sindhi, Punjabi Pathan, otherwise, they, the enemies, will succeed
