Sindh to submit its stance in Supreme Court

The Sindh government has decided to submit its viewpoints to the Supreme Court of Pakistan on the orders over holding local government elections in the province.
This was decided at a high level meeting, presided over by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, held in the Chief Minister’s House on Wednesday regarding the presentation of the schedule for holding local government elections.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan in a suo motu case has given directions to all provincial governments to prepare a schedule for holding local government elections.
In view of the directives, the matter was discussed thoroughly in perspective of views of participants of the meeting. The meeting also discussed the requirements as per directives of the Supreme Court.
Various issues were discussed at the meeting and it was decided by the participants to submit a viewpoint to the Supreme Court for consideration. The meeting was attended among others by Sindh Local Government Minister Agha Siraj Durrani, Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro, Sindh Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Chief Secretary Raja Muhammad Abbas, Sindh Advocate General Abdul Fatah Malik, Law Secretary Ghulam Nabi Shah, Finance Secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch, Local Government Secretary Ali Ahmed Lund and Provincial Election Commissioner Sindh Sono Khan Baloch.
