Closer relations

Everyone who believes in peace, love and humility should welcome the statement of Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani that peaceful coexistence with India is important for the wellbeing of the people of both countries, where millions are still living below poverty line.

By reducing a percentage of spending being made by both countries on purchase of killing machines, it is better to spend on education, health, public welfare projects. Unfortunately the forces of dark on both countries have been promoting hatred and warmongering for the last 64 years. Both countries’ people have been living together for thousands of years, having common culture and habits. The example of European Union countries should be followed by both countries’ political and military leadership.

It is always possible to learn from one’s own failures and others’ success. The only requirement is the will and courage to face and overcome the evil of darkness and fear. India should withdraw troops from Kashmir and Siachen and should take steps in easing visa for ordinary people to ward off hate between the people. The media has great responsibility to promote peace and harmony between the two countries.
