After parting ways with the ruling PPP, Lashkari Raisani is likely to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI). Quoting sources a private television channel reported that Raisani might announce the decision during a PTI rally which is going to be held in Quetta on April 20. Raisani on Tuesday tendered resignation from his Senate seat and party membership over what he called the ruling party’s ignorance towards Balochistan’s issues. Raisani, who was also PPP’s Balochistan president, submitted his resignation in the Senate Secretariat after holding a meeting with Upper House chairman Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari.
The PPP leader apprised the Senate chairman of his motives behind the resignation, adding that he cited government’s failure in redressing concerns of the Baloch people and lack of party attention towards him as reasons behind his resignation. Taking to reporters, Raisani expressed disappointment over PPP’s role in tackling the Balochistan unrest. “Neither is the coalition government taking any serious steps for peace in the province, not have I attached hopes with parliament and the judiciary for the justice.”
