The British Labour Party has suspended Lord Nazir Ahmed from the party after accusations he called for a £10m bounty for the capture of US President Barack Obama and former US president George Bush. The party initiated action against Lord Ahmed of Rotherdam for his alleged remarks published in a Pakistani newspaper, which were said to have been made in response to an announcement from Washington earlier this month of a $10m bounty for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Hafiz Saeed, the founder of the Pakistani-based Laskhar-e-Tayyaba. A Labour Party spokeswoman told the BBC: “We have suspended Lord Ahmed pending investigation.
If these comments are accurate we utterly condemn these remarks which are totally unacceptable. The international community is rightly doing all in its power to seek justice for the victims of the Mumbai bombings and halt terrorism.” But Lord Ahmed denied offering a bounty, saying he was talking about “war crimes” in Iraq and Afghanistan. He also complained that party chiefs had not spoken to him before announcing the move and challenged the party to produce evidence against him. However, speaking to the Press Association from Pakistan, Ahmed admitted he had told the meeting that Bush and former Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair should be prosecuted for war crimes. “They have suspended me? That’s a surprise to me. I did not know,” he said. “If the Labour Party wants to suspend me I will deal with the Labour Party. They will have to give me some evidence.” Asked about the reported comments, he said: “I never said those words. I did not offer a bounty. I said that there have been war crimes committed in Iraq and Afghanistan and those people who have got strong allegations against them – George W Bush and Tony Blair – have been involved in illegal wars and should be brought to justice.”

  1. Double game khelne ki aadat ho gayi hai bhai. Urdu mein kuch kehna hai Pakistan mein baith ke, UK jaake apni baat pe mukarna hai English mein. Lost in translation. But gorey ab itne ullu nahi hain.

  2. Regretfully, all who matter in this war of terror are not displaying statesmanship the least. It seem that war is between "HAVEs" and "NOT HAVEs" and poor citizens are being sandwitched and butchured mercilessly for no fault of theirs, all against humanity which must end soonest possible in the larger interest of mankind.

  3. If Lord N azir is so much interested in Pakistan n Kashmir affairs, he should surrender his UK citizenship and start politics in his original homeland. Playing double game is dishonesty.

  4. Pakistani people, mostly Punjabies, are suffering from mental disease of hypocracy and religious-showoff, whereas thet remain involved in most corrupt practices but try to show off religious hypocratic patriotism every now and then. The above commenters show this mindset.

    • Labor party's suspension does not infringe upon any 'democratic' or 'free speech' values. It merely disassociates the organization from the individual who spooged on it's core principle…

  5. he is a great man with lot of courage, he is our hero we are proud ov u Lord Ahmed
