Former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf has said that as long as Pakistan army is present in Balochistan, the restive province cannot be separated from Pakistan.
Addressing Pakistan First – an organisation of retired army officers – over video link on the present situation in Balochistan, the former army chief said that the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) was an organisation of militants supported by foreign elements. He said the BLA was targeting everyone who was not a Baloch. He regretted that some politicians were supporting the separatists for political gains.
The former president said out of 160 tribes in the province, only three chieftains, namely Bugti, Marri and Mengal, wanted the separation of Balochistan for their vested interests and that they had the backing of foreign elements involved in destabilising Pakistan.
He claimed that Talal Bugti, Shahzeb Bugti and others were in contact with the foreigners for this purpose. He said only 4 percent of Pakistan’s population lives in Balochistan and 60 percent of its people had rejected the separatists. He regretted that the people of Pakistan were not fully aware of the situation in Balochistan, but even then they were perturbed over the prevailing crisis.
Musharraf said the situation had worsened in Balochistan due to the failure of the government, and he much concern about the situation. He said that during his tenure, four universities and three cadet colleges had been opened in Balochistan, and that all masters degree-holders were given Rs 10,000 scholarships and jobs. Speaking on the occasion, retired army officers also expressed concern over the situation in the province.

  2. Translation: This imbecile who takes pride to call himself a commando is representing the same mindset who said the same words about East Pakistan which then became Bangladesh. For how long the army will continue its murderous operation and subjugate the people. The more the military continues to occupy Balochistan the more resentment in the people will occur.

    • Firstly there is no military operation in balochistan; the corrupt anti Pakistan butting was killed after he killed a colonel and captain to his place in derail butting they were asked to disarm and when they were 50 meters away his guards shot them and since then took to the mountains and was fighting them for 3 months till he got rightfully killed. As for his grand son behramdag he lives in Kabul under the shelter of Indians and often visits new devoid. He should be relieved as well. As for balocg people they are innocent and have been subject to injustice by govt of Pakistan and even more so by their tribal chiefs

  3. As long as balochistan is part of Paksitan, it is the army's job to protect it fom outside and inside enemies.

  4. Pakistan Army never solved a single problem of Pakistan. All along it dragged the entire country in deeper troubles and fatten itself only…

  5. It is the elected political leaders job to solve the country's problems. They have continously failed to do so. Things only get worse during their tenure. I agree army does not solve the country's problems but it does give it a little more stability. Compared to Musharraf's time, the country is much worse of today. I am sure there was corruption then also but nowhere close to the present scale.

  6. We stand united with our Baloch brothers, but the only way to subside their flagrant desire for a separate homeland is to wake up and vote for a competent LEADERSHIP (competent in true sense that is), one which is capable of addressing the issues and their concerns

  7. Excuse Mr General …..Army was also there when East pakistan was separated .. i guess there is something really wrong with over all department organisational structure of Army so we have Gernals like Hameed Gul, Zia,Yahya and Musharaf etc coming up and they reach to highest positions …..Army is not solution for everything .

  8. yes gen musharaf I do agree with you but there is more to do in Blochastan politically and socially to upliftment of ordaniry people of Blochastan so they can also share some basic facilities education

  9. Translation of above comment: I agree with you Mister Shoaib that Pakistan Army is an institution which produces the generals who live in their own world of imagination and portray themselves as something which is a sacred cow. These generals conduct mock wars sitting in the bunkers near their headquarters and declare themselves as winners but the ground realities are different. These generals lost all the wars and yet they do not show a little introspection to admit their mistakes.
General Zia, Chishti are stigma on the history of the country. General Hamid Gul is an architect of Taleban and MQM and the whole country is suffering. Generalissimo Musharaf is not an exemption. He is responsible for the murder of Baloch leader and murder of thousands of Balochi youth at the hands of his army. What does he expect from people of Balochistan? To present bouquets of flowers to soldiers.

  10. Look who is talking. He presided the murder of elder Baloch leader. He authorised his ISI to pick up young Balochis and no one knows until now where they are?
Commando was responsible of Kargil debacle and then trampled democracy. Surrendered Sindh to MQM. Look who is talking. Mush you should go to Pakistan.

  11. Mon conseil pour vous est Mush à rejoindre le mouvement de Altaf Hussain. Je suis sûr que Altaf Hussain sera heureux de vous avoir avec lui et va sûrement vous nommer comme commandant de secteur de la rue d'Edgware

  12. My advice to you Mush is to join the bandwagon of Altaf Hussain. I am sure Altaf Hussain will be pleased to have you with him and will surely appoint you as sector commander of Edgware street

  13. Baloch people should be dearly compensated for years of negligence and the tribal chiefs such behramdag bug Marri's should be done away with as they have looted the locals brutally and they sit in Indian and Israeli laps and bark when they are asked too

  15. Translation: General Musharraf you must go to Pakistan where the Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry is waiting for you. Do not be afraid he will treat you like any other alleged criminal. You will have to answer who ordered washing the scene of the crime where Benazir Bhutto was murdered and you will also have to face questions why you ordered an old Balochi leader.

  16. Baluchistan problem will never get solved unless we get rid of these tribal leaders who themelves are impediments in the development of the province.they kept taking royalty for themselves but never fought for development funds…that is even today….you think by developing Baluchistan these tribal leaders will be able to keep their people as slaves as it is today..? the classic example is the port of Gawader…when completed with a view to employ locals….these Sardars never allowed their people to go to work in Gawader port & when people from Karachi started to work…the same Sardars claimed that their locals not being given employement….is this not contrary to what these Sardars / tribal leaders say ? Bugti took Rs 12 crore per yr as royalty but did not allow Dera Bugti area to develop nor did he allowed gas connections to be laid in & around Dera Bugti area nor did any Sardars who were part of one govt or the other did not pursue development of their area bcz all are only bothered about their royalty & financial support given by successive govts to keep their mouth shut…..hence, only the Baluch leaders are responsible of the present mess….nobody else….sense of deprivation had to happen.

  17. This is oft repeated ridiculous reason advanced by the military and pro military mindset.
These people are fixated with the idea that the tribal chiefs are 'impediment' to the development of Balochistan. Rubbish. Why should army take development projects at hand. The more the military stays and continues its operation against Balochis the more resentment will be seen. It is better to accord complete autonomy to Balochistan and let them be the masters of their destiny rather than corrupt and self imposed custodians of the people of the country. These military generals and their supporters should learn lesson from the history.
