Pakistan on Saturday formally announced the appointment of Salman Bashir as its new High Commissioner to India. Foreign Office spokesman Moazzam Ahmed Khan said the government has announced the appointment of the former foreign secretary as its new high commissioner. Bashir has been appointed in the place of Shahid Malik. He served as the foreign secretary from 2008 to March 2012. He also served as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Denmark, Lithuania, China and Mongolia. Bashir also served at Pakistan’s Mission to the United Nations in Geneva as well as at the OIC in Jeddah. He also held important positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs including the UN director general and Asia Pacific additional secretary.
