A 40-year-old addict was hammered to death by his friend in the Baghbanpura police limits on Saturday.
Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a case against accused person. The victim was identified as Rizwan, resident of Shalamar Town. A police official said Rizwan was sleeping in his house when one Bobi came there and killed him with the stroke of a hammer and escaped from the scene. Police have also recovered hammer from the crime scene. However, the accused person was still at large. SHO Baghbanpura Raza said the victim and accused persons were friends and they were drug addicts. On the day of incident, the accused person approached the victim all of a sudden and killed him.
FIRE: Fire broke out in a bakery on Temple Road on Saturday due to short circuit. No casualty was reported in the said mishap. Meanwhile, goods worth Rs 8 lakh were damaged when fire broke out in an auto workshop on Sheikhupura Road. Cause of fire could not be ascertained. Yet in another incident, fire broke out in a junkyard near Ganjoonwali Ghatti Bund Road.
CTP: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) SSP Dr Usman Anwar on Saturday directed traffic police to take strict action against wheelies on the city’s thoroughfares. He directed the Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to take stern action against doing a wheelie on Mall Road, Jail Road, Main Boulevard and Ring Road. He said that wheelie was dangerous and police were educating youths about its bad effects through seminars and lectures, which are being delivered by the Education Unit of the City Traffic Police under the supervision of a seasoned Inspector Muhammad Azeem. He said that youths were an asset to the nation and we should protect their lives.
