Search and rescue operation at Gayari sector, Siachen continues even in extremely cold conditions.
A fresh slide, which had triggered at the site of old avalanche, have created difficulties for troops devoted to conducting search and rescue operation at Gayari. According to a press release issued here by ISPR on Saturday, the situation has been compounded by the mass of snow in which troops are working under low temperature, intermittent snowfall and piercing blizzards.
However, concern of their brothers at arms under avalanche is driving troops of Siachen Sector to endure hardships of the weather and terrain to accomplish their task befittingly. The excavation work, therefore, continue at its fullest exploiting all available manual and mechanical resources. The endeavour is to dig as quickly as possible. In this regard, the search teams have commenced excavation at a new site as well with the help of plant equipment and infantry troops.
The rescue teams have conducted first level explosion to dig further into hard mass of snow against the tunnel being attempted to access a suspected structure at an important excavation site. The digging team is doing a remarkable job in undertaking the tunnelling effort against all odds like heavy pileup of snow, extreme cold and cramped up work space. The excavation work at the remaining sites continues as usual. The all out support rendered by the nation by making maximum resources available have boosted the morale of the troops and given them vigour to undertake the mammoth task.
Lawmakers appreciate PCNS recommendations: All political parties’ leaders appreciated recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) and said its a historical step of the parliament.
Talking to Radio Pakistan, PPP leader and MNA Begum Naseem Akhtar Chaudhry has termed unanimous approval of PCNS recommendations by Parliament historical step of the government. She appreciated the role of others parliamentary leaders in this context. Dictatorial regimes had destroyed national institutions, she remarked. Pakistan conveyed a message to the world that it is a sovereign and independent country, she added.
PML-N leader Senator Mushidullah also appreciated PCNS recommendations. He expressed hope that the government would implement the PCNS recommendation unlike to the past. Talking to Radio Pakistan, ANP leader and MNA Bushra Gohar said that PCNS recommendations is a commitment that Pakistani soil will not be used against any foreign countries. She said that Afghan reconciliation process should be Afghan-owned and Afghan-led. She said that Pakistan wants peace in the region.
President Zardari condoles Cecil Chaudhry’s death: President Asif Ali Zardari has condoled the death of Group Captain (r) Cecil Chaudhry, a veteran fighter pilot of Pakistan Air force, who died in Lahore last night.
President Zardari expressed his extreme grief and sorrow on the demise of Cecil Chaudhry, who was a legend of PAF. Expressing his deepest sympathies and profound condolence to his family, the President said Cecil Chaudhry was a great fighter pilot and a true patriot.
Appreciating the contribution of Cecil Chaudhry in PAF, the President said, he was beacon of inspiration for all ranks and files of Pakistan Air Force who participated in a number of aerial battles during the 1965 and 1971 and displayed outstanding professionalism, unflinching devotion and exemplary courage.
The President said it was the contributions and services of Cecil Chaudhry that the government awarded him Sitara-e-Jurat and Sitara-e-Basalat in recognition of his meritorious services. The President also appreciated the contribution of Cecil Chaudhry for his services for the welfare of Christian community as Executive Secretary of All Pakistan Minorities Alliance and as a member of the Catholic Church’s Justice and Peace Commission. President Zardari also appreciated the efforts and contribution of Cecil in the restoration of the joint electoral system to replace the separate electoral system for the minorities which divided voters into religious groups in a form of ‘religious apartheid’.
President Zardari also condoled with the family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace and for the grant of courage to the bereaved family.
Kashmiris urged to beware of India’s anti-movement plots: The All Parties Hurriyet Conference leader in occupied Kashmir Nayeem Ahmad Khan has cautioned the people about the conspiracies being hatched by India against the ongoing Kashmir movement. Addressing a public gathering in Watergam area of Rafiabad in Baramulla district, Nayeem Ahmad Khan said, “Projecting rift among the Muslim community through stroking sectarian differences, creating misunderstandings about the leadership, encouraging anti-moral and anti-ethical culture and giving bad name to the struggle are part of the conspiracies being hatched by India to sabotage the movement,” KMS reported. We are a nation and we have to show collective consciousness to defeat the conspiracies, he added.
Nayeem maintained that the people had rendered precious sacrifices to achieve their goal and it was the duty of common people to safeguard the sacrifices of martyrs.
