KPK launches extensive plan for promotion of tourism

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Minister for Tourism, Sports, Archaeology and Youth Affairs Syed Aqil Shah said that KPK government has launched an extensive plan for the promotion of tourism in the province. Talking to a private news channel, he said that Swat is the safest place of the country these days as army and the local administration have rooted out terrorism from the area. He said KPK government has organized many functions in Kalam and Swat. Water resource resort will also be built up in Khwaza Khela, he added. He said restoration of communication network is the major problem in Swat and reconstruction of roads is very important to attract tourists in the area. “I have discussed the issue with various ambassadors and through a consortium the government will reconstruct communication sources in the area,” he said. To a question, he said that Swat and Kalam are important places in KPK for tourism and the loss causing due to war against terrorism is about $ 5 million per year. Syed Aqil Shah said that after hydel power, oil, gas and minerals, tourism is major sector to contribute in national economy. He said we have setup a network in this regard. We are building youth house to attract youth of England.
Minister said that now the security situation is gradually improving and it will automatically attract tourists in the country. He said media campaign is necessary for promoting tourism in the country and visa policies will be softened for attraction of tourists.
