In order to provide clean drinking water to the residents of federal capital, the Capital Development Authority has made all 37 water filtration across the city operational.
“All water filtration plants have been made operation by replacing water filters and after necessary repair and maintenance works,” a senior official of CDA’s Engineering Wing said in a briefing to the Chairman Prime Minister’s Task Force on Islamabad Faisal Butt here on Friday.
The CDA was directed to make all water filtration plants operational within 15 days as provision of clean drinking water was among the fundamental responsibilities of the city fathers. The official said though provision of filtered water has been ensured at all plants, their uplift work was yet underway, adding that turf tiles work and that of white washing would be completed by next week. “We cannot afford playing with people’s health and the government would make no compromise on the drinking water quality,” Butt said. He directed the Engineering Wing to make arrangements for regular supply of water during the summer season in wake of the possible water shortage. He said the water tanker service should also be improved and a comprehensive plan should immediately be devised to timely attend the public complaints on water supply. He said that the development plan being carried out in Islamabad was focused to ensure provision of the missing facilities and development activities in the areas neglected in the past.
