Aqeel, Jalil have no mercy in MT Tennis

Matches were played on Friday at K-21 Club in connection with Atlas Honda Tennis Championship. In the morning session two quarter-final matches were part of the schedule.
In first quarter-final top seed Aqeel Khan treated un-merciful to his opponent Shehzad Khan of FaisalAbad . Shehzad Khan who was amongst the best 4 players in recent past, looked through out in trouble in front of well in farm Aqeel Khan.
Shehzad Khan won the toss and elected to serve . Inaugurating service game of the match was broken by Aqeel Khan which built certain pressure on his opponent.
With powerful ground strokes and pin point return of serve through out the first set was fabulous demonstration of tennis skills by experienced Aqeel.
Aqeel won the first set 6-3. In the second set Shehzad looked comparatively stable and started serve and volley game for which he is famous for. This helped till the eighth game . At this stage once again Aqeel showed his mastery and broke his opponent’s serve followed by holding his own.
Aqeel won the match with score line 6-3,6-4 and reached in semi-final. In the second quarter-final match, Mohammad Abid who was part of the Davis Cup squad against Philippines had no difficulty in defeating his opponent Imran Shoukat 6-4, 6-1. The third quarter-final match was played between Jalil and Rashid Malik.
In first set Malik could not hold his service game which was the inaugurating game of the match. He tried to break Jalil’s service game throughout the 1st set but damage which was done at the start resulted in loosing set 4-6. In second set both the players went with the serve and managed to hold however when score reached two games all Jalil took risks and hit fore hand shots with extra force .This turned the situation and service game of Malik was broken. Jalil from this stage was on driving seat with firm grip at crucial situations of the 2nd set . Jalil won the match 6-4,6-4.An interesting encounter held between yasir Khan seed no 2 and Heeera Ashiq seed 6 which took over two hours to reach finish line . In the first set Heera Ashiq put his opponent in real difficulty with wining it in tie break 7-6(4) . In 2nd set Heera was broken in 7th game and eventually lost 4-6 with further declining in the 3rd set and washed out at 3-6. Yasir Khan won the match with score line 7-6 (4) ,6-4,6-3.

Boy’s singles U-18 semis: M. Mudasi beat Raja Shahid 6-1, 7-6. Ahmed Babar beat Hasnain Manzoor 6-7, 6-2, 6-4. Boys singles U-14: Syed Nofil kaleem beat M.Hassan 6-0,6-0 and Shoib Khan beat Sahibzada M.Ali 6-3,6-1. Boys Singles U-12: Uzaifa beat Hambal 6-2, 5-7, 6-1, Hafiz Arbaz beat Aqib 6-0, 6-2, Shoaib Khan beat Ali Bhindari6-2, 6-0, Haris Irfan beat Ali Raza 6-0, 6-1 Mohammad Said beat Hashim Javaid 6-1, 6-3, Hamza Bin Rehan beat Nausher Ali 6-2, 6-2.
