1,000 wine bottles, cache of narcotics seized

The city police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two narcotics and liquor smugglers besides recovering 1,000 wine bottles and 1.140 kilogram hashish from their possession. A police spokesman said that on a tip off Shehzad Town Station House Officer Sheikh Naeem Uddin and his team during special checking at `Lehtrar road’ on late Friday night arrested a bootlegger, who was carrying wine in a car. The bootlegger was later identified as Aqeel Mehmood, a resident Muree.
Police recovered 1,000 wine bottles from his car (RLD-2591). On Saturday, the police produced the accused before the area magistrate and obtained five-day physical remand of accused.
Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Allah Dad from Tarnol police arrested a drug-pusher Wali Khan and recovered 1.140 kilogram hashish from his possession. Police said that investigation was underway from the bootleggers and major development is expected as they got some valuable leads vis-à-vis wine smuggling from the nabbed accused.
