Three members of Hazara Shia community were killed and one other received bullet injuries in yet another sectarian attack on Thursday night in the centre of the provincial capital. In the first incident, armed attackers shot dead two persons working on a fresh juice shop in Liaqat Bazaar, and fled from the scene. In the second incident, armed motorcyclists opened fire at several people sitting at a tea vendor’s shop in Sharey Iqbal. The tea seller was killed and his helper was injured in the attack.
Police officer Hasan Buzdar confirmed the attacks, and said that the victims belonged to the Hazara Shia community. Six Shia Muslims were killed last week and two others were injured when unidentified attackers, suspected to be from the extremist Lashkar-e-Jhangvi group, sprayed bullet in the same manner in the busiest part of the city. The Shia community helplessly protested over the killings and demanded for security to its members.
