A frustrated leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party and former law minister, Senator Babar Awan, suffered another blow, on Thursday, when the members of Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) removed the plaque unveiled by Awan, some two years ago, as then law minister. A pro-judiciary lawyer and president of IHCBA, Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf Gujjar, took the step of removing the former minister’s plaque, apparently as part of his ongoing election campaign against the pro-government lawyers group which is also supported by Awan.
The plaque was placed in front of the high court bar room at the time of its inauguration on March 24, 2010. However, the clash between the IHCBA president and Awan is a year old as in October last year Gujjar also banned Awan’s entry onto IHC premises which was opposed by some members of IHCBA.
