Jeevay Pakistan JeevayMuqamiHakoomat (JPJM) chairman DaniyalAziz, welcoming Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry’s attention towards local governments elections, has said that only the chief justice can get people of Pakistan their basic right of having local government system.
In a statement issued from the JPJM Secretariat on Friday, he said that people of Pakistan appreciate the CJ’s gesture of rejecting all justifications for delay in holding local government polls and seeking election schedule from provincial governments on April 30.
In fact, the CJ’s action endorses the JPJM’s stand that delay in local governments’ elections is a sheer violation of Article 32 and 140(a), added Daniyal.
He further said the JPJM, in its peoples’ convention and news conferences, had pointed out several times that local government might prove a cure to the problems of Balochistan and other provinces, and the CJ also maintained the same thing in his remarks.
He said that federal and provincial governments were keeping people of Pakistan deprived of their democratic right of having their own local governments by delaying polls just to digest local governments’ funds.
He appealed the chief justice to continue hearings of petitions for local government elections on regular basis and help the masses get their right as judiciary was the only ray of hope for the people, oppressed by the so-called democratic and pro-poor rulers.

i totally agreed with noureen and danyal aziz this arguments local government issue is also also a main reasons to increase peoples problems in the country, because disappearance of this system peoples do not have approach their local representatives . and other side members r national Assembly and provincial Assemblies are not reachable easily for them so their problems not get their solutions
Notice against non election of local bodies by chief justice Pakistan is a timely and summon the schedule for local government election till 30 April is also appreciable step.
