Cecil Chaudhry (retired), a veteran of Pakistan Air Force, died at Lahore, today. Air Chief Marshal, Tahir Rafique Butt, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force expressed his extreme grief on the demise of a PAF legend. The CAS has extended their deepest sympathies and profound condolences to his family over the sad demise of the great fighter pilot and true patriot. He was taken as the beacon of inspiration for all ranks and files of Pakistan Air Force.
Cecil Chaudhry was a legendary of Pakistan Air force who participated in a number of aerial battles during the . He was credited with several air-to-air kills and was one of the distinguished Pakistani strike and fighter pilots of the period.
Cecil showed his true colours in the Indo-Pak wars of 1965 and 1971, by displaying outstanding professionalism, unflinching devotion and exemplary courage. The services rendered by the legend were beyond the call of normal duty and contributed a significant share towards PAF achieving air superiority during the Indo-Pak war of 1965. He was part of the famous attack formation which was responsible for the destruction of Halwara airfield and the Amritsar radar in 1965 war. In recognition of his meritorious services, he was awarded with and Sitara-i-Basalat. Cecil was born on 27 August 1941 in a Roman Catholic family of the village , located in the . He joined the PAF on March 12, 1958 and got commissioned in the GD (P) branch on 26 June 1960. During his career in Pakistan Air Force, he commanded two Mirage squadrons and Combat Commanders School (CCS).

Group Captain Cecil Chaudhry was one of the top pilot in the PAF. I am glad to see condolence extended by PAF chief and the force. He was a close buddy of my uncle Air Commodore Ejaz. my uncle was also a great pilot and Cecil and him flown the Mirage together and participated in the wars also, together. My condolence to his family. In the end Cecil was also the Principal of the high school I graduated from, namely St. Anthony's High School. After Irish Brothers, Father's and Sisters left the school it was a huge task and a big challenge to run the school. But Cecil did very well to continue the School in the same fashion and was successful.

A great human being, a very great patriot, an outstanding fighter pilot, a dare devil fighter, a very important educationist, an outstanding administrator, a brave human rights fighter, and a true son of the soil. It is sad Gen. Zia did not make him Chief of Air Staff for religious reasons, yet he never complained. A true gentleman and a very polite and kind man.
What a great pilot! He made us proud by his acts of bravery. He excelled in education too. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Cecil was son of F.E. Chaudhry, photographer of Pakistan Times Lahore; popularly known as chacha Chaudhry in the journalist community of Lahore. I have just read that his father is alive. My heartfelt condolence to him and Cecil's family. The whole of Pakistan condoles the death of this great hero.
I fought against him in 1965, and he was a formidable fighter pilot. But I never think of him as an enemy, but as a superb and dare-devil fighter pilot. It is sad that Pakistan never honoured this great soldier in the way it should have. RIP. Heroes never fade away,

I am honored to share with him some moments during his service in St. Anthony School. He was man behind Shahbaz Bhatti movement. He was a KING makers. May his soul rest in peace,
