The Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company (PAMCO) has planned to establish ‘fair price shops’ in all the towns of the Lahore District under a comprehensive programme. This project will ensure provision of the meat of healthy animals to citizens. The company will also check illegal slaughtering in the city under the same programme. Slaughtering will only be allowed at the Lahore Meat Complex, established to meet domestic requirements.
This was stated by PAMCO Chief Executive Officer Dr Hamid Jalil while talking to a representative delegation of the butchers’ community in his office on Wednesday. He said the Lahore Meat Complex will have a capacity of slaughtering 1000 big and 12,000 small animals daily, while an industry will also be set up for the promotion of value-added products.
