Pakistan-Poland to enhance defence coop

Minister for Defence Ch Ahmad Mukhtar on Thursday emphasized the need to enhance defence cooperation with Poland by availing various training courses, participation in military exercises and defence procurement.
He was talking to Commander-in-Chief of Polish Navy, Vice Admiral Tomasz Mathea, who called on the Minister here.
The Polish Navy Chief is currently visiting Pakistan on the invitation of Chief of the Naval Staff. During the meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation came under discussion.
The Minister apprised the Polish delegation on Pakistan’s role in the war on terror and efforts in hand to bring peace and stability in affected regions along western borders. Polish Navy Chief thanked the Minister for inviting him and his delegation to Pakistan, making arrangements for his visit and hospitality extended to him. He also conveyed grief and sorrow of Polish government on Siachen avalanche incident, and wished for success of rescue operation. He also delivered formal invitation of Polish government to the Minister for visiting Poland in near future. The Polish Navy Chief is also scheduled to visit Lahore and Karachi during his official engagements. Later, the Minister and Polish Navy Chief exchanged souvenirs.
Polish Naval Chief calls on Gen Wynne: Commander-in-Chief of Polish Navy, Vice Admiral Tomasz Mathea called on Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Khalid Shameem Wynne here on Thursday. According to a press release issued by ISPR, they discussed matters related to professional interests.
Bomb-blast victim family seeks justice: A bomb blast victim family has appealed to the government, the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the civil society for justice and sought protection from the terrorists.
Dr. Saeed Ahmed Afridi of Sama Khel Shahkra, Peshawar, said in a statement that on February 12 this year, seven members of his family were killed and three others injured in a bomb explosion planted in a television set, which they had just got repaired through one Kamran. His father was also among the dead. Narrating the details, he said soon after the blast, rocket launchers and hand grenades were also lobbed at his house. Dr Saeed said that police had registered the First Information Report (FIR), but regretted that none of the accused mentioned in the FIR had been arrested. He alleged that the accused were present in the tribal areas, but both the police and the political administration were not arresting them. Drawing the attention of higher authorities towards the miseries of his family, Dr Saeed claimed that the remaining family members were also facing life threats from the terrorists and urged them to provide them security. He appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of the incident and provide his family justice and protection.
PIMA CEC meeting to review progress of projects: Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) Central Executive Council (CEC) will hold a two-day meeting here on 14 to 15 April to review the progress of various projects initiated by the organization. Newly elected President PIMA Dr. Misbah ul Aziz will preside over the meeting. The meeting will also finalized the organization future plans during two-day session. After the meeting, President PIMA will also visit various sites of the projects, spokesman PIMA told APP. He said that PIMA is the largest organization of Muslim doctors of Pakistan. Since its foundation in 1979 PIMA membership has steadily grown up and now stands at over 4000 members. Currently it has 70 branches.
