The Jiyay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) has announced a strike in Sindh on Tuesday against what it called the “killing” of its chief Bashir Khan Qureshi.
JSQM Secretary Gen Asif Baladi said Qureshi didn’t die of heart attack, instead he was killed by state elements.
He called a strike to be observed across the province today (Wednesday). JSQM workers demanded an investigation into the death of Qureshi to ascertain whether the death was natural.
They called for a transparent enquiry by any reputable institution of the country to ascertain the exact cause of the sudden death of their leader.
They also urged the concerned authorities to ensure that the enquiry report must be made public without any unnecessary delay and any culprits, if identified, be brought to book. According to sources, the family of Qureshi has separated itself from legal proceedings being carried out by the authorities into the death of JSQM chief.
Qureshi, could not survive a cardiac arrest and died at the age of 54, on Friday night.
