President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday underscored the need for harnessing true potential of youth for a progressive and modern Pakistan.
He was speaking at the concluding session of the day-long summit “Pakistan Leaders of Tomorrow” – Youth Outreach and Mobilization effort – organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in Islamabad.
Referring to the challenges confronting Pakistan‚ he said instead of pointing fingers toward others we will have to look inwardly to find a solution to these problems.
President Zardari stressed the need for improving the image of the country.
The president said, “We all will have to work together to change ourselves so as to improve the image of the country.”
He referred to several other countries including Germany and Japan that saw critical moments in history but were now powerful economic forces on the global scene because of pursuing right policies and consistency.
He said that he has been urging upon the business communities and others to assist the government in formulating the policies and then own those policies. He urged the young generation to play proactive role and to ensure that the parties they vote for pursue the progressive agenda.
Highlighting the geo-strategic importance of Pakistan, President Zardari said, “We can benefit a lot through economic interaction with our neighbours, Central Asian Republics and Russia.”
He said future of the world is South Asia and Pakistan was part of it.
Addressing the summit‚ PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the youth in Pakistan wanted to see a peaceful‚ prosperous and progressive Pakistan.
He said, “We want to live in the Pakistan as promised by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Qauid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.”
He said he felt the pain of innocent men‚ women and children who lost their near and dear ones and soldiers fighting on the front lines risking their lives.
Could this father/son duo really make these statements with a straight face?
