The students of religious seminaries have demanded of Punjab government to award laptops to them also.
Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith has demanded Punjab Government to award laptops to the students of religious seminaries also. In a press release, JAH spokesperson said he had written letters to the leaders of all sects and chief minister in this regard. The release stated that awarding the students of modern education and depriving those of religious education depicts the mindset and priorities of government. He said though the scheme was merely a political stint and there had also been reported discrepancies in process of laptops’ purchase but the students of seminaries should be treated equally as that of universities and colleges. He also bashed over Wafaq-ul-Madaras for not taking up the issue to forefront. He said a letter was also sent to Wafaq-ul-Madaras stating that they had only come in action at times when there own wings were being plucked but remained silent when there was a problem of madrassah students’ rights. He said if Punjab government did not announce laptops for students of seminaries in one week, Chief Minister Secretariat would be besieged.
Separately, Punjab Education Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said the government is implementing a comprehensive programme for providing modern education facilities to children.
