FOR PRIME MINISTER, SON COMES FIRST!

After failing to rein in the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) from proceeding against Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son over the Rs 7 billion Ephedrine drug scam, the government has apparently let Ali Musa Gilani jet off to South Africa with his wife and children shortly after the Supreme Court issued his summons in a Rs 7 billion drug scam on Tuesday.
Gilani, who was recently elected as a member of the National Assembly, left the country after the ANF moved the Interior Ministry to put his name on the Exit Control List (ECL). The PM’s son will stay in South Africa for three days before flying onwards to London, according to Express News.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday resumed the hearing of the Ephedrine chemical import case, and issued notices to the prime minister’s son, along with some top bureaucrats, including PM’s Principal Secretary Khushnood Akhtar Lashari, to appear before the court.
Rules were flouted in the allocation of Ephedrine chemical quota by companies that are said to be the favourites of Ali Musa Gilani.
During the hearing, the court was informed that the federal government had recently issued transfer orders of ANF Regional Director Brigadier Fahim Ahmed Khan and Investigating Officer (IO) Deputy Director Abid Zulfiqar.
A three-member SC bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry also rescinded the transfer orders, and asked the two officials to continue with the investigation of the case without the fear of anyone.
The bench categorically announced that no order shall be passed by the authorities on the matter without the court’s approval and until its decision on the case. The SC also issued notices to the acting secretary of the Ministry of Narcotics Control; former director general of the ANF Major General Shakil Hussain; Iftikhar Ahmed Khan Babar, chief executive of Berlex Labs International, Multan; and Ansar Farooq Chaudhry, chief executive of Danas Pharmaceuticals Private Limited, Islamabad (Lahooti Group); besides summoning the attorney general of Pakistan on the next hearing.
At the onset of the hearing, Sheikh Akram, counsel for the ANF regional director, apprised the bench that his client had been summoned by Lashari for a one-on-one meeting. The PSPM expressed the prime minister’s serious concerns on the case, while asking him to drop charges against Ali Musa Gilani in “national interest”, he said.
Akram told the bench that his client did not agree with the principal secretary therefore he had been transferred along with Deputy Director Abid Zulfiqar.
During the hearing, Brigadier Fahim also submitted an affidavit on his meeting with Lashari and on the background of the case. He apprised the bench that an FIR No 40/2011 was registered in October 2011 with the ANF in Rawalpindi, and notices were issued to Lashari for recording his statement.
Brigadier Fahim added that he and Zulfiqar went to Lashari’s office at the PM’s House on March 24, 2010, and held a separate meeting with Lashari on his request. “In response to the notices, I, along with Lt Col Syed Touqir Abbas Zaidi (Joint Director ANF) and IO Abid Zulfiqar (Deputy Director ANF), went to the office of Mr Khushnood Akhtar Lashari at PM’s House on 24th March, 2010, and on the desire of Mr Khushnood Akhtar Lashari and his assurance to bring real facts to light, I had a separate meeting with him in his office, where he discussed/conveyed the following to me in a maligning and threatening manner, because he, being one of the prime abettor/associate/facilitator in the case, wanted to make full use of his present appointment/office to suppress/distort/misdirect investigation against himself and Ali Musa Gilani,” Brigadier Fahim wrote in his affidavit.
“Khushnood Akhtar Lashari said that the father of Ali Musa Gillani was very upset and worried due to the summons issued to him. Lashari said that if ANF focuses only on two pharmaceutical companies, and spares the others, it will be fully supported; both companies will be ruined and the state machinery will be with you,” the ANF regional director submitted in his affidavit.
“Lashari said, ‘You know, civil military relations have recently improved and all depends on you (Brigadier Fahim) as only you can save from chaos and upheavals,” he added in his statement.
Fahim further said that Lashari had told him in a sarcastic manner that the ANF was being commanded and controlled by army officers. The ANF director added that Lashari had asked him to spare Ali Musa Gilani, while promising that his “islah” (correction) will be done. “This is a matter of national interest,” Fahim quoted Lashari has telling him.
“In this regard, since then, many prejudiced, unfair and unwarranted actions have been taken by different state departments, which confirms the practical manifestation of the above mentioned threats and his heinous/malicious design to sabotage the investigation by one way or the other,” Brigadier Fahim added in his affidavit.
The court said in its order that if Lashari, Ali Musa Gilani, or any one else wanted to appear before the court in the meantime to record his statement, he should be given a fair opportunity in accordance with the law. The bench adjourned the hearing of the case until April 20.

  1. Like father like son. Cant wait for this govt. to be over & the PPP scums hang from the poles.

  2. I wish the supreme court would actually grow some balls and actaully punish some of these people. All I see supreme court do is take notices. gillani/zardari are ruining the country and the army and supreme court are standing on the sidelines watching it happen.

  3. Why isn't the nation up in arms and why doesn't the supreme court do something more than just "take notice". We can't expect much from the coward generals so we have to take the responsibility upon ourselves to change the regime and the system.

  4. PM Gilani wrote in his book when he was in jail that “he had to sell his watch to pay the college fee of his son” now his son owns Audi’s, Mercedes and billions of property,

    • Politics is by far the most profitable business in Pakistan. Entry fee is high but the return on investment is tremendous!!!!

    • Before Yusuf Raza became PM, he could not even afford a car to collect his kids from school. In a few short years all of them now individually own fleets of expensive cars worth crores and crores. How is that for instant 'monetary success'?

  5. Now,once again PPP will make hue and cry that media is running after it and Supreme Court is baised and they all are hatching conspiracies against Bhutto's party.Lagatary raho bhutto kay naaray aur banatary raho maal!

  6. It is mind blowing to read the whole story of this case. It is so very obvious what the whole govt. machinery is doing to save crime minister's son that even a person with an IQ of less than 10 would come to the same conclusion that musa gillani is guilty as hell.

  7. This prime minister is destroying the the whole country and it may take decades to undo the damage he is doing. I have never seen any leader destroy the system so openly. What is really sad is that kiani is a partner in all these crimes with him. We all know that he is a coward but I did not know that he would be so timid especially when his own senior army officers are treated like servants and ordered around like they are personal slaves of prime minister. Kiani will be known as the most inept general Pakistan has ever produced. Army was one institution that was relatively organised and respected. Kiani is destroying it single handidly. I wish another general with guts would come forward and take kiani out. I am just livid that this is going on in the country and the army chief is not coming to the defense of the officers who he commands. Just goes to show what kind of army chief and a person he really is. No wonder he keeps getting (and accepting) extensions. If any country ever wanted to attack Pakistan, this would be the time. We have a a coward and a theif incharge.

  8. I can't write against the army or gillani. PT keeps censoring my comments. I'll try again later 🙂

  9. It is mind blowing to read all the facts of this case. gillani has done so much damage to the country that it would take decades to just get back to where we were only four years ago. It would take a couple of generations if we are lucky and if we are blessed with true patriotic leaders. The worse part is that kiani is single handedily destroying the army as we have known it. This was the only institution we had left that had some some of credibility and organization. For kiani to sit there and watch the army officers be treated like personal servants goes to show what kind of leader he really is. Not a good one at all. We all knew he was incompetent but we did not know that he was in cahoots with gillani and zardari. I can see now why he keeps getting offers of extension and why he keeps accepting them. He is not there to defend Pakistan. He is only there to defend gillani and zardari while they abuse army officers. We need a general with some back bone instead of this coward.

  10. After reading all the facts of this case, I blame kiani for most of the ills of this country. There used to be a time (a good time) when these corrupt politicians had some fear of the army chief. However, this army chief is letting gillani and his cronies treat high army officers like personal slaves and he just sit there and collect his paycheck. He is paid to defend the country which he has failed to do. He is supposed to provide leadership to the army. What leadership? His is a pathetic leader. gillani knows that kiani does not have a backbone thats why he feels that he can get away with abusing army officers. I wonder if kiani commands any respect within the army? I seriously doubt it. There is a reason why kiani keeps getting extentions and now we all know why!!!

  11. Gillanis should take tuition and lessons from Sharifs on how to cheat national exchequer and not get caught see laptop scheme

PPP are immature (anarhee chore) in handling corruption and soon get exposed to media, judiciary and opposition. 🙂

  12. The Army Chief who is responsible to ensure the respect due to his subordinates and the Army is very strangely quiet! Is this going to be a case identical to Nirendra Modi of India? Like so many earlier cases this will also be given an extended hearing date.We have been watching this cycle for nearly five years now.

  13. Bilawal Z of Nawabshah must be real proud of Ali Musa Gill of Multan for spreading this new enlightened moderation policy of his which replaces Bombs with Ecstasy Pills. Perhaps this calls for another $1 Million to be given as Nazrana to some KALI MAA's shrine in Bharat.

  14. Nothing will happen to Ali Musa Gill and he will get away like Moonis Elahi, to live hapily hereafter, till these scums face eternal damnation on Day of Judgement.. Moral of Story==you reap what you sow!

  15. We all know these guys are crooks, they have proved to us time and time again. But we keep voting for them.
    BUNCH OF IDIOTS WE ARE.

  16. After all, laws are made to be broken and that is exactly what Gilani and company are doing. Keep it up Pirs of Multan !!!

    M. RAFIQUE ZAKARIA
    Karachi

  17. This is Democracy's Revenge, which BZ talked of when his father took control. The Colombian Drug Cartel should take some lessons from Multan Drug Cartel working under supervision of BZ and Gill the Crook

  18. RAJ CHAUPAT ANDHER NAGRI— Can somebody tell me why IMRAN KHAN & JAVED HASHMI are silent on this issue. Will the new province called Seraiki be headed by these drug peddlers and become a safe haven for drug mafia?

  19. Ali Gilani and his family are on vacation.. They will be back in Pakistan on the 19th of April.

  20. what coward Generals you have Democracy at work elected leaders by you so stop complaining if SC asks the army for help i am sure army will help dont blame army now you idiot

  21. Since the last couple of weeks we have been seeing this campaign to brutally malign Ali Musa Gillani in a base less and ridiculous scam, merely at the whim of a powerful few, who, after having tried every trick in the book to make the our Prime Minister ineffective have decided to take his family hostage. Although I agree to a recent broadcast message that barking dogs should not be addressed, I believe it is time for every honorable Pakistani to speak out against this new facade of media trials where the media at the behest of its masters sitting abroad, assumes the role of the witness, judge and the executioner and in just one show, puppets like Kamran khan conclude the trial.

We stand by you Musa. At this fragile age you dared to pull up your sleeves and walk the streets of Multan, fighting valiantly and fearlessly. Your victory haunts your enemies, your valour threatens their dangerous interests, and you determination rattles their very existence. We all look up to you, we believe in you, and we know that these cowards will not be able to deter you from you path and you will continue to fight for our Pakistan, and InshAllah victory shall be yours at every step.

  22. This is the another naked example of blindness of laws and the clear diffierence between poor and wealthy personalities.I did not commit any crime and I have been suffering punishment of MARTIAL LAW REGULATION NO.52 IN P.I.A SINCE 1981.AS I AM HEPLESS AND HANDICAPPED AGEDMAN NO RECOURCES TO CHALLANGE THIS PUNISHMENT.AS A RESULT I HAVE BEEN PUSHING ON MY LIFE AND ALSO THE LIVES OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS FOR NOTHING VER MISERABLLY.THERE IS NO INDEPENDENT TRIBUNAL OR COURT OF JUSTICE TO LISTEN MY SUFFERINGS AND DO JUSTICE WITH ME.AKHER JAIN TOA JAIN KAHAN.INN RULERS AUR QAZIS KO AIK DIN DAY OF JUSTICE KE DIN MAIRA HATH HO GAI AUR INN LOGOAN KA GERAIBAAN HO GA.ISS MENTALTY PE HAMARA DIL KHOON KE AANSOON ROATA HAI.MAGR MAIRI SOTROY KOI BE NAHI SUNTA.KASH MAIN BE KISSI PRIME MINISTER YA PRESIDENT KA BAITA HOTA.LAANT HAI AISSI LIFE,RULERS AUR INSAF KE AALAMBARDARAON PE JO POOR KE NAHI SUNTAI.

  23. Kiani should resign if he has any self respect. I can't imagine I could ever let anyone treat my subordinates like gillani treats kiani's subordinates. kiani's lack of competence shows in his reaction to abbotabad attack, salala attack and the daily drone attacks. America openly called him complicit and incompetent and he still bows to them. Shame on him.

  24. Kiani should resign. His army officers are being abused and intimidated by gillani and his cronies and kiani does not have the guts to come to their defense. Do we really want such a coward leading the sixth largest army in the world? We count on him to defend the borders of the country. He has failed miserably in that job. Now he does not even have the courage to stand up to gillani in defense of his own army officers.

  25. Any Pakistani General out there with guts to take over and put the nation out of this misery?

  26. All the rich brats like britney spears, lindsey lohan take cocaine. Who would look after the poor? So in a sense, this could be the re-enactment of the character of bradley cooper in limitless. Pakistanis watch hollywood too!
