Finally, Bollywood has woken up to the idea of adapting life and times of legendary sports persons on celluloid. After the humungous success of ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ and the much awaited ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ based on real life Indian athletes Paan Singh Tomar and Milkha Singh respectively, a film on Indian hockey icon Dhayan Chand is in the pipeline. And the fact that sports centric films are now being considered as potential money spinner at the Box Office, filmmakers are vying for the heavyweights of B-town instead of the non-commercial actors.Buzz has it Shah Rukh Khan has been zeroed in to play Dhyan Chand on-screen. The actor comes as a natural choice considering his inclination towards the sport and someone who has also played a significant role in the super hit hockey film ‘Chak De India’ in 2007. Talking to a daily SRK confirmed, “Yes, I have been approached for a movie based on the legendary Dhyan Chandji’s life. Hockey, as a sport, isn’t new to me since I have been an athlete throughout my school and college life, and I’ve especially played a lot of hockey.” Many might not know that SRK, during his school days at St Columba’s, Delhi, captained the football and hockey teams besides playing cricket at the zonal and national levels.
